It’s fast becoming one of my new passions, especially the use of (very) basic stop motion. So shooting a few hundred individual photos and then assembling them into a video… Used the Lensbaby again on this one, which really helps create the creepy atmosphere.
This video was shot and assembled in just one day…
It’s amazing what great locations you can find in any small town, if you get out there and explore a bit. Although, of course the more ‘grubby’ of these tend to be in the neglected parts of town – so it’s always best to keep your wits about you, and preferably make sure there’s a bunch of you!
Wanted to do something a bit different for this Mind Museum shoot back in February, and I had just the location in mind… Also experimented a bit with the Lensbaby Muse lens – which helped to make the shots more individual…
A shot from a recent trip North (to the Polish Club in Barnsley), where I went to catch up with Ben Poole on his debut headlining solo tour to get some shots of him and the band both live and off-stage – for a photographic project that I’ve just kicked off. The three guys played a jaw-dropping gig in the evening (gig of the year so far for me) and it was a real pleasure to be in their company for a while. Looking forward to catching up with them again soon.
If you haven’t heard Ben yet make sure you pick up his debut EP, and make the effort to see him live when he plays next. You could also check out the many performance videos of him on YouTube… he really is a star in the making.
Wow, March already? Well I never. It’s been a busy year so far here at broomephoto.com – at last I’ve got a few spare moments to start bringing you up to speed…
First promo shoot of the year occured back in January and it was for our old pals Snakewater (always a good sign when someone comes back for more!) – they’ve just recorded an album down in Dover with world reknowned rock producer Chris Tsangarides and were looking for some new promo and album shots.
We took a bunch in our own small studio space – for which I wanted to use some pretty intense lighting. We started with some equally balanced side-on lights, which produce a very unique look – and finished off with the classic side-lit style (reminiscent of the cover of ‘With The Beatles’ – but with more of the intensity of Mick Rock’s famous top-lit Queen shots), which Rob (singer and guitarist) was keen to capture.
If you’re looking for some new promo shots for your band, don’t hesitate to get in touch. If I can fit you in, and you can get to me (in Staffordshire) then it won’t cost you anything at the moment (if I have to come to you, then I’ll at least expect my expenses to be covered) – just because I love shooting bands…
Haven’t been shooting as many gigs as I would’ve liked over the last few months, but I have managed to catch a few excellent blues gigs at the Robin 2. So I thought I’d share a few shots from those over the next few days…
Beginning with a shot of Joanne Shaw Taylor who I caught on Thursday night. If you haven’t seen her perform I suggest you seek her out at the earliest opportunity – so much power in her playing and singing. An experience not to be missed!
